What is a disposable email?
A disposable email, also called a temporary email or throwaway email, is an email address created instantly that you only use for a while. It receives messages like any other account, but it isn't linked to your name or your personal email.
It's the easiest way to keep your main inbox clean: when a website asks for an email to give you access to something, you give it your temporary address, confirm the sign-up right here and forget about it. If that website later sends ads or sells its mailing list, the spam ends up at an address you no longer use.
What is a disposable email for?
- Signing up for websites, forums and apps you just want to try.
- Downloading an ebook, template or resource that asks for your email.
- Starting free trials without getting marketing emails afterwards.
- Entering giveaways or surveys without sharing your real email.
- Testing forms and email sending if you are a developer.
When NOT to use a temporary email
Don't use it for your bank, your job, purchases with payment details or any account you'll need to recover later: if you lose the address, you lose access. Always use your personal email for those.
Frequently asked questions
Is disposable email free?
Yes, it's completely free. You don't need to sign up or share any personal details.
How long does my address last?
Your address is saved in this browser and keeps working while you use it. If you clear your browser data or press "New address", a different one is created.
Can I send emails from this address?
No. A disposable email only receives messages, such as confirmation emails or verification codes.
Why haven't I received an email?
Most arrive within seconds. Some websites block temporary addresses or take a few minutes to send. Check that you copied the address correctly and press "Refresh".
Is it safe?
It's safe for unimportant sign-ups. But anyone who knows the address could read its messages, so don't use it for important accounts or to receive private information.
Can I get a previous address back?
Only from the same browser, as long as you haven't changed it. That's why we don't recommend using a temporary email for accounts you want to keep.
Do I receive attachments?
Yes. Attachments appear inside the message and you can download them with one click.
Is it legal to use a disposable email?
Yes. Using a temporary email to protect your privacy is legal. What isn't allowed is using it for fraud, abuse or to get around other services' rules.
